I have been mulling over possible block choices for the Modern Quilt Guild block challenge. I drew the first two and sewed them this week. Here are blocks one and two:
In my last post I explained the Modern Quilt Guild’s block challenge. You can submit up to three 12 1/2″ by any other dimension block, using only the colors in the Guild’s logo. I am going to submit a third block which will be more abstract than these. I have a preliminary idea but it needs a little more time to percolate.
These blocks were fun to design. Normally I would not use all solids in a block so I had to step a little out of my comfort zone, but once I got started it was a blast. Now I am looking forward to pushing myself a little further. There have been some beautiful and unusal blocks submitted so far. See them in the Flickr group here http://www.flickr.com/groups/quiltconblockchallenge/.
This is sure to be a very special and unique quilt!
love your blocks – especially the first one – it’s got fabulous movement – kinda like an optical illusion
Wow! Both really wonderful blocks!!! I might have to steal the geese one day – wouldn’t a bunch of those blocks make an awesome quilt?!
